Taking on the Keswick 3 peaks!

At Serenity Care Company, we’re always looking for ways to empower our service users and give back to the community — and this December, we’re doing just that by Taking on the Keswick 3 Peaks Challenge!

This exciting fundraiser marks the launch of our new charity initiative, which will help our service users access more opportunities to volunteer, explore the community, and enjoy meaningful activities such as events, days out, and holidays — experiences that are often out of reach for people in supported living.

Why We’re Fundraising

Many people with learning difficulties, autism, or mental health conditions face barriers when it comes to accessing employment, travel, and community events.

  • Only 6% of adults with learning disabilities in England are in paid employment — meaning 94% are not currently working.

  • Disabled adults overall are still far less likely to be in work than non-disabled adults (54% vs. 82%, according to Leonard Cheshire).

These numbers show how crucial it is to create alternative opportunities — volunteering, social activities, and community participation — to build confidence, wellbeing, and inclusion.

That’s where our fundraising comes in.

All donations to our GoFundMe campaign will directly support activities that bring joy, purpose, and connection to our service users through a new community coffee shop. Every pound raised will go towards the planning and building of the shop, which will provide outings, events, short breaks, and volunteering opportunities through the money raised from selling coffee! — helping people experience life beyond their care setting. Not only this, the shop will also provide volunteer work for any of our service users that want to give it a go and get involved!

About the Keswick 3 Peaks Challenge

The Keswick 3 Peaks Challenge is a stunning but demanding route in the heart of the Lake District. Participants climb three beautiful summits — Catbells (451m), Walla Crag (379m), and Latrigg (368m) — covering around 10 miles with over 900m of ascent.

It’s a day filled with teamwork, encouragement, and breath taking scenery — and for our service users, it’s a chance to achieve something extraordinary. Together with staff and supporters, we’ll be completing the challenge at the beginning of December, raising funds and awareness every step of the way.
